In his first visit to Basra Province, US Ambassador Christopher Hill met with Governor Shiltagh Abud al-Mayah, Provincial Chairman Jabbar Amin Jabbar, and Deputy Chief Judge Abdulkhalik Umran Al Faris. Accompanying the ambassador was John Naland, Basra Province Provincial Team Leader and senior U.S.diplomat in Southern Iraq

Discussions centered on the economic future and security of Basra Province. In addition to government officials, Ambassador Hill met with leading business people, and senior commanders of Iraqi Security Forces.
