Maersk Line (27 October 2009) announced a new dedicated feeder service between Jebel Ali (UAE) and Umm Qasr (South Port terminal), linking Iraq to trading partners in the region and beyond.
MAIN FACTS:
- As new opportunities for foreign trade arise, importers and exporters in Iraq are calling for more reliable cargo transport services to neighbouring countries.
- A Maersk-owned US Flag vessel will be deployed on the rotation.
- The service also includes Kuwaiti-operated terminal services dedicated to Maersk Line.
- This will enable it to consolidate all its operations to a single container yard.
- It will commence operations in the beginning of November 2009 with the first call at Umm Qasr scheduled for 14 November 2009, and new services including reefer acceptance, inland haulage and our own sales representation planned for the near future.
