A conference was held in Basra included the Minister of Foreign Trade of Turkey and 80 investors from Turkey with the Governors of the cities of the south and those responsible for the investment sector in Basra.
The Governor of Basra, Dr. Abboud Shiltagh said” Basra is to gain international attention from Arab and foreign investors and that is what we observed at the last conference in Washington”. Dr. Abboud welcomed the Turkish investors and he expressed his full readiness to provide all kinds of support to them.
BASRAH INVESTMENT COMMISSION through its staff and its chairman Dr. Haider Ali Fadhil have coordinated with all the investors who they attended the conference where they have been shown the investment map of the province in addition to demonstrate the investment opportunities of the province for different sectors.

Turkish companies exploring the investment situation in Basra

Vice Chairman of BASRAH INVESTMENT COMMISSION, Mr. Jalall Tuama Al-Noori received a delegation of Turkish companies chaired by the Turkish consul in the city.
The delegation also expressed its strong desire to go to Basra and start the work.So these companies are involved in (oil, gas, housing sectors).
From his side Mr. Jalall said that “Basra need housing projects because of residence problem that Basra suffer from. Basra has 330 donnem in Abu Al-Khaseeb prepared to invest in this field, he added.
He also said “to get the benefits from investment law amendments which are allow to the investor to award the land to the investor that want to construct a residential project, Basra also need power projects, There are several investment opportunities like Al-Shuaiba power plan, commercial complexes, universities, specialized hospital. Also there is approximately 250 hectare prepared to agriculture investment.
